An Impressive Pair of Candlesticks

London, 1854

Maker's Mark of Robert Garrard

Both the candlesticks and sconces are fully hallmarked.

Height: 12.5in (31.5cm)

Total combined weight: Approximately 70oz (2177gr)

This is a magnificent pair of candlesticks In the Régence style. They are based on an famous mid 18th century rococo design with almost indentical examples having been made by Edward Feline & Nicholas Sprimont. However being Victorian, and by Robert Garrard, the quality is exceptional which is further highlighted by the fact that they weigh approximately 35oz per candlestick. The candlesticks are fully hallmarked and they are both also engraved on on the base with R & S GARRARD PANTON ST LONDON. The sconces also bear a full set of matching hallmarks.

Both candlesticks bears an original crest which is almost certainly that of the Morison family, Edinburgh. ProvenanceE & C. T Koopman & Sons Ltd, London 15th February 1984
