This magnificent pair of Rococo-inspired sauceboats was made in London in 1905 by Elkington. From the 1830s onwards, the great designs of the mid-18th century once again became fashionable in England. Leading firms such as Hunt & Roskell and Elkington began reproducing some of the finest Rococo designs, drawing inspiration from the exuberant forms and ornamentation of the period. This elegant pair of sauceboats is almost certainly based on an original Rococo design of the mid-18th century.
