A Magnificent 18th Century Chinoiserie Tea Caddy Set, 1762
This is an exceptional mid-18th century English tea caddy set made in London in 1762 by SamuelTaylor. The set comprises of three matching vessels, a larger covered sugar bowl and a pair of tea caddies housed in its shagreen and velvet lined original fitted case.
Each vessel is of elegant baluster form, raised on decorative feet and richly embossed and chased with chinoiserie decorations and chinoiserie figures as finials. The decoration has remained incredibly crisp almost certainly as a result of them surviving in their original case.
