Length: 11.9 inches (29.75cm)

These exceptionally rare serving spades feature carved rock crystal handles and silver-gilt, spade-shaped bowls. The stems are decorated with reeded borders and distinctive anthemion motifs in graduated sizes, a design that is echoed on the reverse of the bowls. The faceted rock crystal handles are particularly unusual and are fitted with finely chased silver ferrules decorated with flower heads and foliate scrolls. The spades are in excellent condition and retain crisp, well-defined hallmarks. Rock crystal handles were an expensive luxury, making pieces of this quality the preserve of the wealthiest collectors and households.
